Texas Over-65 Exemptions by County and City
Last Updated: August 31, 2026
The $200,000 school exemption is the same everywhere in Texas. What varies — sometimes enormously — is the local-option exemption individual counties and cities add for non-school taxes: verified figures range from the $3,000 statutory minimum to $175,000 in the City of Dallas. Nobody else has assembled this comparison.
This page explains what the published rules say. It is not tax, legal or financial advice, and it is not a determination of your eligibility. Only your county appraisal district can tell you whether you qualify. Figures are for the tax year shown and were last verified on the date shown.
6 of 10counties below have a confirmed local-option figure. The rest are marked "Verifying" — we would rather tell you we don't know than guess.
